The West Seneca Town Board has ended the town's contract with E3 Communications, a public relations firm it was paying $3,000 a month.
The board was criticized by residents when it voted earlier this year to hire the PR firm to help with a lack of communication with the public.
Residents believed the public funding going to the PR firm should have been used elsewhere.
The board voted Thursday to terminate the contract as of Sept. 30 to reduce budgetary impacts.
The contract was set to expire on Dec. 31.
