Travel picks up as the holiday weekend approaches

With two days to go until Christmas, holiday travel is picking up - on the roadways and the airways. Which means, travelers need to keep some things in mind as they make their way to and from during this busy holiday weekend.

A spokesperson for Buffalo-Niagara International Airport says, it's going to be a very busy season for traveling, especially this weekend. Travelers can expect high-volume traffic going and coming and should therefore arrive at least 90 minutes before their scheduled departure.

For many Western New Yorkers coming home this holiday season, it's a chance to see growth and progress here in the Queen City. For others who are just visiting, it's a chance to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the winter season.

AAA suggests a few things before heading out for the holidays, for instance: check the status of your flight online before heading out to the airport, if you're flying internationally consider leaving even earlier than the suggested 90 minutes, weigh your suitcase before you arrive and make sure your liquids meet the 3-1-1 requirements.
