After facing threats of Trump-related boycotts, all but one Wegmans store in Virginia has sold out of Trump Winery products.
According to Jo Natale, vice president of media relations for Wegmans, the Charlottesville store had approximately 100 remaining bottles of the Meritage and 20 bottles of the Cru as of 4 p.m. Friday. All nine other Wegmans stores in Virginia have no Trump wines in stock.
Wegmans will replenish its supply, but it might take three to four weeks, Natale said.
Recently, Wegmans came under fire for selling products from Trump Winery, which is located in Virginia. Wegmans sells 237 wines from 58 Virginia wineries at its Virginia stores, and has been carrying Trump wines in its stores since before Donald Trump bought the winery in 2011, Natale said.
When asked about the calls for Wegmans to drop Trump wines, Natale said product performance is the only thing taken into consideration when it comes to whether to stock a product. She added Trump wines are only sold in Wegmans Virginia stores.
