UB: Classes canceled due to state mandate

Posted

Some feel this winter storm is no big deal, but schools and universities still closed their doors and took a snow day.

A spokesperson from the University at Buffalo says the decision was based on weather predictions and a mandate from the Governor's office.

"The decision to cancel classes today was made based on current and predicted weather conditions, as well as on a mandate from the Governor's Office of Employee Relations asking non-essential employees to not report to work," the statement reads. "The university is currently monitoring the weather and is in contact with state officials. A decision on whether to cancel classes on Wednesday will be made later today."
