Buffalo's Canalside is keeping things merry and bright this holiday season, with an ice skating two and a half times the size of an NHL rink, almost ready for the public to enjoy.
The layout of the rinks is the same layout of the historic Erie Canal. 7 Eyewitness News went underneath the rinks to get a look at the "mechanical room" that cools the concrete, creates the ice and keeps things in operation.
The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation is planning their annual holiday celebration for December 18th and invites the public to come out and enjoy the new rinks.
The idea behind the project is to get Buffalo to embrace the winter weather instead of hiding indoors until spring.
