To celebrate the 85th anniversary of General Douglas MacArthur creating the modern Purple Heart medal, West Seneca officials are honoring recipients.
On Friday, Assemblyman Mickey Kearns and town of West Seneca supervisor Sheila Meegan unveiled a 'Combat Wounded Designated Parking' sign at West Seneca Town Hall.
Nationwide, there are about 1.8 million Purple Heart recipients, combat wounded service members who have transitioned back in to civilian life.
Assemblyman Kearns says he hopes to put the designated parking signs at businesses and offices across western New York.
