The Western New York Chapter of the Red Cross will be sending help to Canada, in the wake of Alberta's wildfire that has burned more than 565,000 acres.
Peggy McGee-Smith of Kenmore will be working in Disaster Mental Health Branch with the Canadian Red Cross. She will help people who have been affected by the wild-fire deal with emotional stress.
The massive wildfire forced 70,000 Fort McMurray residents to leave their homes, making it the largest fire-related evacuation in the history of the province. As of now, people are in need of food, water and a place to sleep.
