The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation is planning a wide variety of activities at Canalside and the Outer Harbor for the Fourth of July.

The free Independence Day events will culminate with Canalside’s official City of Buffalo fireworks display, presented by Russell J. Salvatore for the third year.

The fireworks show viewed at Canalside or the Outer Harbor and will be synced to music provided by Mix 96 FM. The event’s rain date is Tuesday, July 5.

There will be children’s activities from noon to 6 p.m. at Canalside with plenty of food trucks on site. No outside food, beverage or pets will be allowed. Folding chairs and blankets are welcome.

In addition to the fireworks, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of live music on the main stage at Canalside starting at noon and at Wilkeson Pointe starting at 4 p.m.

There will also be a beer garden and plenty of food and patriotic souvenir vendors on the Outer Harbor.

For anyone planning to use the Queen City Bike Ferry to get back and forth between the Outer Harbor and Canalside, be aware it only runs until 8 p.m. on the Fourth of July so bicyclists will need to utilize Ohio Street after that.
