For residents and businesses affected by last week's tornado, the big question is whether insurance will pay for losses?
The answer can be complicated because of the way in which the damage occurred. For parked vehicles, only those with comprehensive insurance will likely be covered. Car and trucks with just liability and collision insurance could be left out.
For homeowners, if a falling tree damaged a structure, the loss might be covered. However, if a falling tree did not hit a structure, then the cost of dealing with the downed tree cold be substantial for property owners.
The tornadoes damaged a large number of vehicles which may be "totaled" because of broken windows, rain-flooded interiors, and thousands of paint chips caused by tornado-thrown dust and debris.
