WNY Holocaust survivors remember dark times

Posted

A Holocaust remembrance ceremony was held Sunday at Temple Beth Zion for each of the victims of that dark age in human history.

At the ceremony, guests lit six candles, one for each of the six million Jews who were brutally murdered by Nazi Germany during World War II.

Sophia Veffer is a survivor who says it's important to remember this time in history.

"If we don't remember and don't walk about it, than the 11 million victims of the Holocaust will have died in vein," Veffer said. "We have to tell the world what happened so it cannot happen again."

The county and city have declared this week as the "days of remembrance" for the victims of the Holocaust.
