East Aurora native Kaitlin Hawayek has been named an alternate to the U.S. Olympic ice dancing team, but she got her start at a learn to skate program in Cheektowaga!

Hayayek started in a learn to skate program and remained with Skate Great coaches until she was 13 years old.

Skate Great offers programs for beginners or for people looking to improve their current skills. It's Western New York's largest learn to skate program and one of the largest in the country.

"We learn to embrace winter here and picking up skating when it gets cold is a great way to get outside," says Jessica Roswell, owner of Skate Great. Instructors with Skate Great hold classes at five different rinks around Western New York, including Cheektowaga, East Aurora, Hamburg, West Seneca and Canalside in Buffalo.

With more than 20 classes a week for all skill levels from hockey to figure skating, there's an opportunity for everyone to embrace WNY's winter weather!
