Gavin Edward Duda entered the world at 12:01 a.m. on New Year's Day.

The baby, who weighed seven pounds, four ounces was the first baby born in Western New York.

He was welcomed by mom and dad, Jessica Schlecht and Richard Duda, family and the staff at Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo.

Baby Gavin's timely arrival attracted much attention, as 7 Eyewitness News cameras captured some of his very first moments.

"We're really excited," said Schlecht. "It's an honor, it's very exciting to bring him into this and it'll be great to show him this when he's older."
