It's a workout that's favored by celebrities like Meghan Markle and Sofia Vergara.
Lagree fitness is a workout that activates both your slow and fast twitch muscles, relying on your body itself to build strength and tone.
It's similar to pilates, but done on a machine called a Megaformer. The machine has a moving carriage in the center of two stable end platforms. It makes lunges, planks and crunches a little harder, activating different muscles than if you were to do them stationary.
Brittany Gabryel, the owner of Reform Fitness, participated in Lagree workouts in LA and taught classes in New York City. She brought Lagree to Western New York because she knew she wanted to come home and she couldn't give up the workout she loved so much.
"It seems scary, but you can do it. Anyone can," says Gabryel. The Megaformer looks intimidating, but Gabryel says it's accessible to people of all fitness levels. "My aunt did it and when she started, she couldn't do anything. Now she's doing the hardest moves we have." Moves are customizeable to fitness level and comfort.
The studio also offers a "little Lagree" class. Moms and dads are welcome to bring their kids. If they're in a stroller or baby carrier, they can sit at the base of the machine. If they're a little older, they can sit in the waiting area.
Introductory classes are just $10. You can find more information on the studio's website.
