A Buffalo woman has pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the death of her boyfriend.
Debra Haynes-Thomas, 48, of Cazenovia Street in Buffalo, admits she struck 56-year-old Peter Weipert in the head multiple times with a ceramic statue, causing his death.
The attack took place in November in the victim's home on Princess Drive in Cheektowaga as he was falling asleep. The couple had been arguing earlier.
A tip led police to the Weipert's home. They were met by a strong smell of natural gas, and discovered all burners from the gas stove were left on. Officers later found the victim's body in his bed covered by pillows and blankets.
Haynes-Thomas faces 25 years in prison when she is sentenced May 25.
