A 26-year-old woman is facing felony charges for a head-on crash in Depew last September that claimed the life of a 72-year-old woman.
A pick-up truck and a sedan collided on French Road near Beverley Drive around noon on September 9. Carol Dion, 72, of Depew was driving the sedan and was killed in the crash. A 23-year-old woman and 25-year-old man were also injured.
The driver of the pick-up truck, Sarah Skotnicki, 26, of Depew, suffered a severe leg injury. She has now been charged with felony criminally negligent homicide and misdemeanor third degree assault.
Police did not say what prompted the charges, however, at the time of the crash police said the pick-up truck crossed the yellow line.
Skotnicki was taken to the Erie County Holding Center on $25,000 bail.
If convicted, she faces up to four years in jail for the felony charge and one year in jail for the misdemeanor charge.
