Melanie Klaja owns Mel's School of Music and Theater.
And her mission is far from the same old song and dance.
“I had a vision in my head and I put it on paper and made it come alive,’ she said.
She offers private and group performing arts classes, and the business is her baby. She only opened the school a year ago. “I always had four jobs all at once,” Klaja added.
Klaja's worked in New York City and she's toured the country with a band. But, Buffalo is home. And when she returned, Klaja said she knew music had to remain a part of her life.
“I started doing some private lessons out of my home, and it got to a point where I had a lot of kids.”
So, she said she decided to quit the waitress gigs and event planning responsibilities and open her own business. And Klaja said she's glad she did.
“It's a dream come true. I've come a long way.”
