15 feet in diameter, a whopping 7,000 pounds. The largest bowl in the entire world made its final appearance at the 2018 Erie County Fair on Sunday.
The bowl was completed on the first Friday of the fair, it's composed of 1,090 separate pieces, put together with more than 5,000 screws and 30 gallon of epoxy.
“Well gee I wonder what the biggest bowl is and we found that out- it’s currently in Austria at 13 feet and we said 'You know what I think could do that' and next thing you know, here we are," Joe Gelsomino said, who owns the Woodworkers' Clubhouse.
Because of its size and weight the bowl will remain on the fairgrounds until next year. Marketing manager for the fair, Marty Biniasz, has an idea of how to put it to use in 2019...
“And we‘re looking at perhaps doing a stunt with it next year, perhaps the biggest bowl of Cheerios?”
