Zipcar acquires Buffalo CarShare

Posted

Drivers who used Buffalo CarShare could soon be back on the road. Buffalo CarShare has been acquired by Zipcar.

The Buffalo News reports Zipcar could have cars back on the road next month.

A spokesperson for Buffalo CarShare released a statement saying, "Buffalo CarShare is extremely pleased to let you know that we’ve signed a tentative agreement with Zipcar in order to continue providing Buffalo’s residents, businesses, and students with affordable and convenient access to car sharing."

Buffalo CarShare provided hundreds of members access to cars to get around town. The not-for-profit organization shut down in June because it had problems getting an insurance policy.

Further details about the acquisition and transition plan will be announced in the coming weeks. An official announcement is also expected then.

Members will soon hear from Buffalo CarShare about how they can move their membership.
