Buffalo Artisan Food Traders in the Northtown Plaza in Amherst is selling only locally produced and owned foods as they look to help businesses that are struggling due to the pandemic.
"We thought it was a good way to reach out to the local business community, bring everyone under the same roof and allow the consumer to get all of the local brands they know and love," Owner Rick Fickhesen said.
More than 40 locally produced brands are on the shelves, ranging from pierogi and pickles to cheese, popcorn and spices. The hope is to get to more than 70 brands, with a space to help others get their start.
"We want to put an incubator kitchen in the back to help people start small businesses with food," Fickhesen said.
Buffalo Artisan Food Traders buys the products wholesale, continuing to expand beyond just the store as they hope to have an outdoor market on Saturdays as well.
