DEPEW, N.Y. (WKBW) — Taka Win, owner of Teton Kitchen in Depew said business was good for the family owned restaurant until about 4 weeks ago.

“Just not a really good situation to keep going on like this," he said. "I hope this crisis is over very very soon."

Win says the restaurant is losing out on hundreds of dollars daily.

“Let’s say like $1000 I make a day, now it's only like three or four hundred bucks.”

That’s a 60 to 70 percent decrease in sales. And to make matters worst, Win says last weekend the restaurant was scammed.

“Someone ordered to this location. We start making the order. We call," Win said. "But she never picked up the phone, she never answered our email.”

Win says the lady ordered about $180 worth of food.

“This is very hardship for us. Very hard time, you know, for not only even me, all the restaurants," Win said. "So these kinds of things cause a lost of time and of course, you know the food cost and things like that.”

But Win decided to make the best out of of a bad situation.

“I give free to my other customers who come and picking up other foods. Everybody’s happy you know,” he said.

Despite going through some financial difficulties, Win says the restaurant has not laid off any workers and he thanks his loyal customer base for that.

“They always try to help out almost weekly. Weekly they order something from us.”

And Western New Yorkers, you can too! Teton Kitchen in Depew is open 7 days a week.

“We still offering the full menu and also same price,” Win said.

They’re ensuring employee and customer safety by using sliding tray windows during take out transactions.
