BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — In an uncertain time for businesses, Ohlson’s Bakery on Sheridan Drive is still open and ready for the holiday rush. Hoping to bring some normalcy to your seasonal traditions this year.

“We’ve been a tradition to many people’s holiday celebrations for 32 years, so if we can continue doing this, it just really makes us feel good that we can do that,” said Lisa Ohlson, owner.

Known for their cakes, Wisconsin Kingles and excellent service, Ohlson's is still serving their traditional sweet treets.

They're not impacted by much of Erie County going into the orange zone this week. Earlier this year, they had to close their cafe because of COVID-19, but never stopped serving desserts, which wasn’t easy.

“It definitely has decreased our sales, we had very few wedding cakes this year, if we did they were very small,” said Ohlson.

There's normally a line out the door during the holiday season. To make up for that loss, Ohlson's is trying something new to them.

"We just started online ordering and it’s something we thought we needed to do with the changes going on and to increase business," said Ohlson.

They’re also offering curbside pickup.

"I think it’s amazing that all these small businesses have been able to adjust, because this has been just really hard for everyone," said Ellen Marzolf, a customer of 10 years.

Stopping by is a must for the Marzolf family.

“It’s just the best around!” said Marzolf.

The Marzolf family is thinking about adding this staple to their holiday table. And Ohlson says she’s glad she can bring WNYers a sense of normalcy this holiday season in the form of something sweet.

“The celebrations may be small, but Ohlson’s is still here. It just warms our hearts. We’re here for everybody. whatever we can do, we’re here," said Ohlson.

You still have some time to put in an order for a Thanksgiving treat. You can call or order online until 3pm on November 21.

If you miss that deadline, you can still put in your Christmas order or just pick up something sweet on a random Tuesday to treat yourself at 8500 Sheridan Drive.
