25th Annual Great Pumpkin Farm World Pumpkin Weigh-Off
One of the Great Pumpkin Farm's most popular events, the World Pumpkin Weigh-Off will take place Saturday October 3 at 12 p.m. as part of the farm's annual Fall Festival. The owner of the heaviest pumpkin will take home $1,000 and cash prizes will also be awarded to the second through sixth places. For more information visit their website here.
Rusty Nickel Brewing Co. 6th Annual Harvest Fest
Rusty Nickel Brewing Co. is hosting its annual Harvest Fest both in-person and virtually this year due to COVID-19. The event begins Saturday October 3 at 12 p.m. and runs until 11:30 p.m. In-person activities include: special beer releases, new hard cider release, stein hoist competition, pie bake-off, homebrew competition, s’mores, harvest foods, samplings, fall themed drinks, presentations, guest speakers, and more. Blue Pumpkins for K9s
Back for another year is the Blue Pumpkins for K9s event. Blue pumpkins will be sold in honor of fallen Buffalo Police Lieutenant Craig Lehner and there will be a basket raffle and craft vendor as well. All proceeds will be donated to the Buffalo Police K9 Unit. The event begins October 2 and runs until October 4 at 118 W Woodside in Buffalo. For more information visit the Facebook event page here.
Celebrate Halloween at the Buffalo Zoo
Here is a fun and safe way to celebrate Halloween this year. The zoo says "gather your little ghosts and goblins and Celebrate Halloween! at the Buffalo Zoo. Golden Mummies of Egypt at the Buffalo Museum of Science
The "Golden Mummies of Egypt" exhibit, which opened in February will be in Buffalo through October 18. The exhibit was initially scheduled to leave town in June, but COVID-19 shutdowns changed the museum's timeline. For more information visit the museum's website here.
FeedMore Western New York Walk Off Hunger
Walk Off Hunger will run from October 3rd to October 11th. It's normally an all day event filled with games and fun where Western New Yorkers can use their feet to feed the community. "Unfortunately this year we've had to change the model up a little bit," said Anne McKenna, Feedmore WNY's Chief Communications officer. Hawk Creek Wildlife Center's "Wild Brews"
This adult only VIP fundraiser event will take place October 3 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Attendees will experience food trucks, beer, wine and encounters with Hawk Creek's animals.
