BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Western New York region is not set to enter Phase Two of reopening until at least Tuesday.
Barber shops and hair salons are part of Phase Two of reopening, and for one Buffalo barber, he's already been bombarded with requests for appointments.
After more than two months in the dark, the lights are about to turn back on at Dark Horse Hair Studio.
"It's going to be crazy when we get back to it," said Edward Fibich, owner of Dark Horse Hair Studio. "In 12 hours I booked out a week solid."
Dark Horse and all other barber shops and hair salons are part of phase two; and a potential Tuesday opening means Fibich is ensuring his studios in downtown Buffalo and East Aurora are clean and safe when you walk in.
"Upon entry we're going to hand sanitize and have people wash their hands for twenty seconds," Fibich said.
Every customer must wear a mask and Fibich says Dark Horse will also be checking temperatures.
"Anyone [with a temperature] above 99.5 [degrees Fahrenheit] we're going to have to turn away," Fibich said.
Only one customer per barber will be allowed in at a time, and all chairs at Dark Horse's locations are set seven feet apart.
All barbers will wear gloves and masks, and all equipment will be wiped down constantly with disinfectant.
Fibich says, it's all to make customers comfortable.
"So when they sit in that chair they can peacefully get a haircut and try to forget what's going on right now," Fibich said.
Dark Horse will only be doing haircuts at both of their locations, as they cannot have customers remove the masks for beard trims.
Fibich suggests that anyone looking to get a haircut to start looking now as appointments are getting booked fast.
