CLARENCE, N.Y. (WKBW) — Victory Sports Global Outreach based in Clarence helps under-resourced schools, leagues, teams and athletes obtain the equipment they need to play and compete in sports.
Due to COVID-19, many children aren't allowed to play in organized sports, so they started Operation Jump Rope.
It's an initiative to get jump ropes in the hands of children who don't have access to one.
"Jumping rope is one of those thing that is easy to do and, whether you do one jump or 100 jumps, it's great exercise," said Doug Rifenberg, Executive Director of Victory Sports Global Outreach.
The plan is to handout jump ropes on Saturday, May 9th at locations to be named later.
Proper social distancing will be kept into account.
Operation Jump Rope is just the beginning of how Victory Sports Global Outreach is looking to help Western New York.
"We have a warehouse filled with equipment, we have footballs, soccer balls, roller blades, we will try and set up other events where we get out in the community and give away other types of equipment," Rifenberg said.
Victory Sports Global Outreach is a non-profit and is always looking for the donation of used sports goods.
To do so, drop them off to the main office at 9393 Main Street in Clarence. For more information on Victory Sports Global Outreach, visit their website here, or Facebook page here.
