Daycares across the region are working around the clock to find solutions for school-aged children who will now need daycare services during remote learning days.
Erie County’s Emergency Childcare Task Force is currently conducting an online survey to best find out where there is the greatest need for daycare options. According to Sheri Scavone with the western New York Women’s Foundation, 19,000 Buffalo Public School students grades Pre-k through five will need daycare given this year’s circumstances.
“We have always seen childcare as an essential workforce support,” said Scavone. “It takes on greater gravity when the educational component comes into play here.”
