The Pitch, Hit & Run national finals are set to take place on Monday, July 16th and Orchard Park 14-year-old Abby Torgerson is one of the finalists.
Torgerson was one of 625,000 kids that initially took part in local competitions all around the Country and later advanced to Sectionals. A win there advanced her to Regionals and then to the New York Mets team competition where she again placed first overall in her age group.
On Monday, July 2nd, Torgerson was announced as one of three girls finalists for her age group. She will travel to Washington D.C. and compete for the top prize.
Torgerson will also be a part of the outfield during the MLB's home run derby later that night and will also have access to fan fest and activities going on throughout the week. Additionally, Torgerson says she has been notified by the Mets that they will have an "Abby Torgerson Day" later this summer where she'll visit Citi Field and hang out with some of the players.
