Bills send Dareus home for violating team rules

Posted

With a new head coach and a new general manager, Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Marcell Dareus had a chance to start fresh -- especially after so many off-the-field incidents that cost him time on the field. And now, it appears that fresh start has been tarnished a bit.

The Bills confirmed that Marcell Dareus had been sent home from Baltimore for violating team rules, and that he would quite obviously not play against the Baltimore Ravens. Although the exact reason is unknown, Dareus not being with the team in any capacity is notable with a much more stern head coach in Sean McDermott running the show.

This is not Dareus' first run-in with following both team and league rules. The star defensive lineman has been suspended by the NFL on two different occasions, and even received an in-house suspension for what was reported as being late "excessively."

Dareus is in just the second year of a six-year contract extension. His cap hit is $16.4 million in 2017.

More to come as it becomes available.
