Josh Allen praises Bills Mafia, over $300,000 raised for Oishei in honor of his grandmother

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Since Josh Allen revealed that his grandmother died a day before the Bills played the Seahawks, Bills Mafia has come out in droves to raise money for Oishei Children's Hospital.

Bills Mafia can now claim another milestone, raising over $300,000 in less than 72 hours.

According to Oishei's website, fans have donated over $300,000 since the idea was first brought up on Reddit following Sunday's game.

The majority of donations are $17 recognizing Allen's jersey number, and since Sunday Oishei has received over 15,000 donations from Bills fans all over the world.

Speaking to the media Wednesday Allen addressed the the thousands of donations that have been made.

"To know that people care and that so much good is coming out of a tough situation, it means the world to myself, it means the world to my family," Allen said. "It just shows how this Bills community and this Buffalo community rally around each other, that's what they've been known for and that's what they're still known for. I can't thank everybody who supported and donated, I can't thank them enough.

"It's overwhelming for sure but so much good is coming out of a such a tough situation that you cant help but smile at it and it's unbelievable."

When asked to describe his connection with Buffalo, Allen said the following:

"It's a truly special place...I don't ever want to leave, obviously, and I want to play here for as long as I can and give back to the community and give back to Bills Mafia here."

Allen was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week Wednesday.
