BUFFALO, N.Y. [WKBW] — Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said he’s an optimist and that’s the only way he'll look at the outlook of the 2020 NFL season.
“All signs right now are pointing to us playing and having a full season so that’s the information I’m going off of right now,” McDermott said when asked about the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming season. “That said, if things happen, then we’ll adjust.”

On Wednesday, McDermott spoke with reporters for more than an hour, discussing the conclusion of virtual offseason workouts and meetings.
“To me, it’s a reflection that we’re capable of a lot more than we think we’re capable of. It’s a great example of that,” McDermott said when asked how these past few months of virtual meetings went. “Everyone in our building has had to do things, just like you have, to make what used to be easy become reality. I think that’s been really cool to watch the human spirit at work. Not just in our building, but in our community as well.”
Normally, this would be when NFL coaches, players, and front office workers take some time off leading up to training camp. This year they still will, but McDermott said things will be a bit different because there Is still so much planning that needs to be done.

“We have to continue to communicate over the course of these next handful of weeks here as we go forward in making sure that our training camp is ready to go, we’re ready to meet all the protocols and we’re ready to give our players the best chance to come into a normal situation, as I alluded to earlier.”
McDermott did say the team has contingency plans in place if a player tests positive for COVID-19 once workouts begin in Orchard Park. The team spent several hours earlier in the week looking over the facility to see how they ensure it’s ready and safe for training camp, whenever they can start.
“Hey, when we start it’s all hands on deck. I’m confident in our building that that’s the approaching I’m already seeing and that’s the approach we’ll have to take for us to have a successful season.”
