BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Hundreds of Buffalo Bills fans gathered at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport Sunday night, to welcome the team back home and thank them for an incredible season.

The Bills made the AFC Championship for the first time in 27 years. But they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 38 to 24. This means the Chiefs will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl, and the Bills will have to wait for another chance next year.

But fans know the team will make it to the championship again. Many at the airport held signs saying "We're proud of you" and "We will be back."

"Next year, it could be a whole different ball game," says Bills fan Sandy Benny. "We could be standing here, cheering on the Bills with a super bowl win."

Curtis Wall says, "I'm upset because the Bills lost. Tough season, but I know we'll be coming back next season and we'll do it all again."

The team's plane arrived at about 2:30 Monday morning, but fans were at the airport hours earlier doing what they do best -- celebrating. They were breaking tables and singing songs, all to commemorate a season no fan will ever forget.
