For the second straight season, the UB football team is bowl eligible.
The Bulls beat Akron 24-6 Saturday afternoon to improve to 6-1 overall on the season and 3-0 int he Mid-American Conference. It's the earliest the team has become bowl eligible in program history.
The Bulls defense stepped up big and didn't allow Akron to reach the endzone, holding them to just two field goals on the day. They also held the Zips to just 235 total yards.
QB Tyree Jackson completed 16-of-30 passes for 212 yards along with a touchdown and interception. His lone touchdown pass on the day was his 18th TD pass this season. He also added 57 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Jaret Patterson led the ground game with 91 yards and a touchdown while KJ Osborn had six catches for 116 yards.
The Bulls hit the road next Saturday as they take on Toledo. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
