BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — As the college football season approaches, UB's Taylor Riggins is being nationally recognized. The senior defensive end has been named to the Bednarik Award watch list, presented annually to the outstanding defensive player in college football.
Last season, Riggins (an All-MAC First Team member) had 8.5 sacks which was second most in the Mid-American Conference. He also had 50 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and three fumble recoveries.
Semifinalists for the Bednarik Award will be announced in early November.
The Bulls are scheduled to begin organized workouts Monday. As of now the Bulls are scheduled to open the season on September 5th against Kansas State.
