Canisius High School relied on star pitcher Dan Dallas all season long. A no-hitter in Game One, and then a home run in Game Two led them to a Georgetown Cup victory over St. Francis High School at Coca Cola Field this spring.
Dallas started to garner some consideration from Major League Baseball, and with his fastball reaching 90-plus miles per hour, the professional baseball dream started to become a reality.
On Friday afternoon, during the second day of the Major League Baseball draft, Dallas was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the seventh round -- the 204th overall selection of the draft. The 6-foot-1, 204-pound pitcher went 10-0 for the Crusaders during the 2016 season.
