LANCASTER, N.Y. (WKBW) — A 13-year-old who was previously told that she wasn't allowed to wrestle, "because I'm a girl," has just made her school's varsity team.

7 Eyewitness News reporter Olivia Proia first told you the story about Trista Blasz of Lancaster, who wanted to wrestle but was told she couldn't by a doctor who was associated with the school.

Since we told her story Blasz met her hero WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, and was allowed to participate with the boys on their junior varsity team.

Two months later she got a promotion by making the varsity team.

Congrats, Trista!
