Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown honored the Canisius High School football team following it's state championship victory on Tuesday at City Hall.
"I want to congratulate the coaches and team on winning the 2016 Monsignor Martin and Catholic High School Athletic Association Championships," Mayor Brown said. "It's quite the accomplishment."

The Crusadersrallied to defeat Cardinal Hayes High School 50-44 back in December to secure the program's second title in three years.

"We set a standard at the school," senior Cole Burniston said. "We're winners, we like to win. Two out of the three years, you can't go wrong with that. Hopefully the boys next year can bring it back again."
"It's the culmination of all our hard work from the coaches, our players and parents," Head Coach Rich Robbins said. "Its' really a football family. We work hard at what we do.
"(Mayor Brown) understands that championships and success is never by accident. It comes from a lot of hard work."
