OP, Williamsville East & Fredonia fall in state title games

Orchard Park, Williamsville East and Fredonia each advance to the state championship softball and baseball games on Saturday.

The defending Class AA softball champs, the Quakers punched their ticket back to the state title game with a walk-off 4-3 win over Ballston Spa.

Former Super 7 Athlete of Week Alex Sheehy singled to right in the bottom of the 7th, driving in Lillian Wozniak to send the Quakers back to championship.

However, the bid for back-to-back championship would fall short with a 4-1 loss to Binghamton.

Depew lost to Windsor Central 5-0 in the Class B semifinals.  They end the year with a 20-5 overall record.

In the Class A baseball tournament, Williamsville East advanced to the championship with a 4-3 walk-off win.

Ryan Foster knocked in the game winning run for the Flames.  Wantagh defeated East 6-5 in 9 innings to win the statet title.

In Class B, Fredonia took care of Schalmont, cruising to a 6-2 victory.  The Hillbillies fell 8-7 to Marlboro Central in the championship.
