BUFFALO, N.Y. [WKBW] — Buffalo native Jessica Pegula's run at the Australian Open has come to an end. On Wednesday in Melbourne, Pegula fell to fellow American and No. 22 ranked player in the world, Jennifer Brady, in the quarterfinals.

Brady topped Pegula in three sets [4-6, 6-2, 6-1] ending the Buffalo native's impressive showing in the first grand slam tournament of the year.

For Pegula, this was the farthest she's ever advanced in a grand slam, winning four matches. En route to the quarterfinals, Pegula knocked off No. 12 ranked Victoria Azarenka, and No. 5 ranked Elina Svitolina.

According to Women's Tennis WTA rankings, Pegula is currently the 61st ranked player in the country. The 26-year-old will likely climb the rankings after her impressive showing in the Australian Open.

Brady will take on Karolina Muchova in the semifinals on Thursday. The time of the match has not yet been announced.
