TORONTO (WKBW) — On Friday morning, the National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) announced the postponement of all 2020 international games.
The postponement includes planned preseason and regular season games in Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, and Finland.
The Boston Bruins and Nashville Predators had planned to open their regular seasons in Prague. The Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets had been scheduled to play two regular-season games in Helsinki in the 2020 NHL Global Series.
The Bruins were scheduled to play Adler Mannheim in Germany as part of their preseason; the Predators were scheduled to play SC Bern in Switzerland in their preseason. Both games were part of the 2020 NHL Global Series Challenge, in which NHL teams face off against European teams in NHL preseason match-ups.
The Buffalo Sabres participated in the 2019 NHL Global Series, playing two games against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Stockholm, Sweden in November.
