Lindy Ruff isn't calling it quits just yet. According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the former Sabres head coach will be named an assistant coach with the New York Rangers.
Ruff, who spent 15 seasons as the head coach of the Buffalo Sabres, will likely take over the defensive side of things with the Rangers.
More recently, Ruff was the head coach of the Dallas Stars, making two playoff appearances in four seasons. After the 2016-2017 season, Ruff was fired after the Stars failed to make the playoffs.
The Sabres will take on the Rangers in the 2018 Winter Classic at Citi Field in Queens.
Deal not yet done, but Rangers will hire Lindy Ruff as assistant coach (in charge of defense, plus) to replace Jeff Beukeboom.
