No Sabres stars on ice in preseason finale loss

Posted

The Sabres’ top stars didn’t take the ice in Minnesota on Thursday.

No Ryan O’Reilly, Jack Eichel or Evander Kane. No Tyler Ennis or Matt Moulson. The top veterans for the Wild took part in the contest. You can imagine how this preseason game ended.

The Buffalo Sabres lost to the Minnesota Wild 6-1. The Sabres were outshot 42-11.

Jason Zucker, Tyler Graovac and Zach Parise (power play) scored for the Wild in the first period.

Nino Niederreiter tallied in the middle frame before Tim Schaller got Buffalo on the board late in the second period.

Former Sabres Zac Dalpe and Thomas Vanek (power play) scored late in the third period for Minnesota.

Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta left the game in the first period after suffering a lower-body injury. Kaleta was making his preseason debut after battling back from a groin injury.

The Sabres close their preseason schedule on Friday with a home game against Columbus.
