The Buffalo Sabres added some veteran experience to their defense corps on Thursday by signing Cody Franson to a two-year contract. Multiple reports say the deal is worth $6.65 million.
The 28-year-old is coming off his best season as a pro. He scored a career-high 36-points playing 55 games in for Toronto and 23 for Nashville. He scored seven goals and 29 assists.
He has scored 35 goals and 134 assists in 400 career games over six seasons.
Franson projects to play top minutes among the Sabres best two pairs on the blueline. He should help the power play as well.
If nothing else, he provides more competition on the back end for a team looking to rebuild.
