BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Buffalo Sabres are kicking off their 50th season in the NHL with a 5K race.

The organization made the announcement Tuesday on its Twitter account.
The race will start and finish at the KeyBank Center.
The first 1,000 runners who sign up for the race will receive a t-shirt and two tickets to a Buffalo Sabres preseason home game this year.
It costs $30 to take part in the race. Proceeds will go to the Buffalo Sabres Foundation, which helps a variety of local causes.
The race will take place on Saturday, August 17 at 9 a.m.
There will also be a Kids Fun Run at 10 a.m.
