She won gold four years ago in London, now Jenn Suhr is ready for her medal defense in Rio.
The 34-year-old Fredonia native held a press conference on Wednesday in Churchville as she trains for the United States pre-Olympic Trials.
Suhr is the top-ranked pole vaulter in the world.
During her indoor season last January she set the world record jump of 16 feet, 6 inches.
She’s also recovering from achilles and calf injuries, which she suffered at the indoor world championships in March.
Suhr says the zika virus is a “zero factor” on her as she gets ready for Rio.
The U.S. pre-Olympic trials for women's pole vault begin on July 8.
