Few gusty t-storms possible in the Southern Tier on Tuesday

and last updated

Keep your eye to the sky on Tuesday Southern Tier. Gusty thunderstorms will roll through your backyard Tuesday afternoon.

A low pressure system out to the west along with a warm front will bring in another surge of moisture as well as showers and t-storms to Western New York Tuesday. There is still some uncertainty as to the track of the low. However, if the skies begin to clear out during the afternoon, look for showers and thunderstorms to fire up from Chautuaqua, Southern Erie, Wyoming, Cattaraugus, Allegany to McKean and Potter Counties.

Some of these thunderstorms will produce torrential downpours and gusty winds strong enough to knock down large tree branches and powerlines.

The Storm Prediction Center Out in Norman, Oklahoma has parts of the Southern Tier in a slight risk for Severe Weather Tuesday. The rest of Western New York is given a marginal risk for a gusty thunderstorm.

Much of Western New York will see beneficial rainfall Tuesday. Even you folks up in Niagara and Orleans County, who have arguably seen the worst of the drought will get a little wet.

The 7 First Alert Weather Team will continue to keep you one step ahead of the storm throughout the day.
