BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Western New York will go from the wet to the wintry later Monday into Tuesday. Winter Storm Watches are posted for parts of the Southern Tier late Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. The Chautauqua Ridge stands the best chance for seeing some local snow tallies on the order of 6 inches or more. Most of these totals will be in the highest elevations. The rest of our region will see anywhere from 1 to 4 inches Monday evening into Tuesday morning. Watch for some slippery spots early Tuesday as a result of the wet snow that falls overnight. Quiet, and somewhat milder air returns for the end of the week. Winter arrives on Thursday with the Winter Solstice just before 10:30 p.m.
