Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all Wyoming and Allegany Counties now through 6pm.

The Storm Prediction Center has put all of WNY under a slight risk for severe storms today. The storms that develop could bring damaging winds, hail, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Depending on how much sun we see today could impact the severe threat. More sun makes the atmosphere more unstable and leads to a better chance for storms. As the cold front moves through later today and interacts with this unstable atmosphere expect convection to really blossom. Most of the storms will be pre-frontal and the storms are most likely to take place between 2 to 3pm.

A warm and moist air mass in place this afternoon combined with a very sheared atmosphere could lead to severe storms. We will be watching this very closely.
